The Kop Hill Climb was excellent fun - it seemed like all the old vehicles in the South of England were out to play. The hill climb itself was fun to watch (and smell the Castrol R), but the highlight for me was the paddock - never seen so much vintage and veteran stuff out and about (literally hundreds of vehicles, from early 1900's to present day supercars), nor so much that I couldn't identify - Duzmo anyone?

This was the centennial year, however the last 'proper' event was held in 1925. That was abandoned when the 'Cordon Bleu' Bugatti left the road and seriously injured a spectator. The accident caused the RAC to call an emergency meeting, and fearing official reprisals it was resolved that no more public road speed events would be sanctioned, bringing the UK hill climb era to a sad end. There was no competition at this event - some drivers clearly went for it, but for most part the climb was a parade, and none the worse for that. Plus for this year Cordon Bleu was back, fully restored. In 1925 she was advertised as 90mph guaranteed, £500. I suspect 100 times that wouldn't buy her now!
